Degree apprenticeships in Construction Professions in Wales - Consultation
Overview
Overview
CITB has been leading work on behalf of Medr to develop and offer a degree apprenticeship in Architectural Technology in Wales. Thanks to a partnership between Medr the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and two Welsh universities, the first cohort of students should be starting their apprenticeships and degree Programmes as early as September 2026.
Of the nine universities in Wales, Cardiff Metropolitan University and Wrexham University have been working with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and local practitioners/employers to develop the Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours that will underpin the apprenticeship.
The new degree apprenticeship being created has been subject to external consultation with industry, including design/ practices and companies.
Working closely with CIAT, the professional body representing Architectural Technologists, the degree apprenticeship’s aim is to ensure graduates have the high level of professional knowledge and skills needed in the industry.
Attached is the final version of the Wales Architectural Technology Degree Apprenticeship Framework for consultation on its Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours.
